Retardant Wood Products
For
those specifications that call for a fire retardant lumber product
that will have exposure to the elements or high humidity
conditions, Chicago Flameproof’s Exterior Fire Retardant Wood
Products are the product of choice.
In addition
to submitting to ASTM E84 testing for surface burning characteristics,
our Exterior Fire Retardant Wood Products have also been submitted
to ASTM D2898 accelerated weathering (rain) tests.
Applications
such as exterior decks, balconies, stairs or siding are notable
examples of where our products would be the logical choice.
Our Exterior
Fire Retardant Wood Products have a clear finish which can be stained
with a water based stain or painted with a latex based paint. They
are manufactured at our Chicagoland treating facility and are available
for immediate shipment for orders as small as a few pieces or as
large as multiple truckloads.
Exterior Fire
Retardant products are not rot resistant, thus they will not last
as long as preservative treated products in outdoor applications.
To help increase longevity of outdoor decking/porch applications,
we reccomend the use of cedar, as it is a species of lumber that
is naturally rot resistant.
